Drawing 1

Still Life

In my still life drawing I drew a football and two bottles. I felt I did well on using a full range of values and height of the bases on my drawing. I feel I could have improved on adding using the 6 parts of lights and adding more shadows. This was my first drawing that has taken multiple hours to complete. This was my first time drawing 3 objects of my choice and using a full range of values with only using one pencil.

One Point Perspective

In my one point perspective drawing I had to find a picture that focused on only one point of view and draw that. I drew a wooden bridge with a small forest in the background. This drawing was difficult because you had to focus on lots of key details and really use 6 parts of light. I feel I did well on using a full range of values from one side of the bridge being lighter than the other. I feel I could have improved on adding more detail and having more focus on everything in the picture not just the main focus.

Self Portrait

This was my first self portrait I have drawn. I felt I did below average on this drawing and could have improved greatly on certain parts. I feel that I did very well on getting a full ranges of values. But the drawing did not look like me very much and I could have improved on that. Some of my facial features were not in proportion with the others I could have done better with that. Overall I am pleased with my work because it was my first time doing a self portrait.

Two Point Perspective

In my two point perspective drawing I had to find a photo that focused on two points of view and draw it. I found a photo of a building where you could see two sides of the building because the way the picture was taken. With this it was difficult to make sure all the lines were lined up correct and make sure they all hit the vanishing point. Another thing that made this drawing difficult was we had to draw a person as well along with the building. In this drawing I thought I did well on a full range of values. But, I could have improved on my proportions. All in all I thought it was a good drawing.

Gray Paper Charcoal Drawing

In this drawing we had to use two charcoal pencils one white one and one black one. We had to draw a black and white image and use the paper as the main background color. It was hard to achieve a full range of values because the paper was used as most of the middle ranges.  The charcoal was much softer than the other pencils we used and it was very difficult to press softly against the paper to achieve the darker tones. This was one of the easier drawing because you didn't have to worry about the background tone as much as the others. But it was still difficult to make sure to get all the important details.
